Bird is one of Brooklyn’s first fashion destinations. It was voted Best Women’s Boutique in New York City by New York Magazine in 2008 and Top Visionary Boutique in the United States by Lucky Magazine in 2007.
The original Bird store in Park Slope opened in 1999. The second location in Cobble Hill opened in 2006. The Park Slope store was relocated in 2008 to a larger space to accommodate the addition of men’s wear and accessories. The third location, a 2500 sq. ft. LEED-certified space designed by Norwegian architect Ole Sondresen, opened on Grand Street in Williamsburg in February 2009.
Dreamy, a bath, body and gift boutique, is nestled amongst other specialty stores and eateries in Encinitas’ popular Lumberyard along Hwy 101 carries delightful products for the soul and the senses. The person behind this sacntuary of a store is Heather O’Quinn. “As a society we have really gotten away from the ritual of quiet time,” said O’Quinn, who opened Dreamy in April 2006. “We need to spend time alone and quiet our thoughts. When you come into a space like Dreamy, it reminds you of that.”
Lines include Kai fragrances, Voluspa candles, Lollia bubble baths and hand creams, Red Flower organic body treatments, and Nectar Essences. You can also find handmade and organic cotton stationary sets, journals and greeting cards from Snow & Graham, Delphine and Elum.
Owner Kathy Walsh was a buyer for Bendel’s Bloomingdale’s, Barneys and ABC Carpet and created Homeward Bound as a unique lifestyle and home store. At first glance, Homeward Bound appears to be a store filled with designer furniture, romantic chandeliers, and romantic gifts from around the world. When you come closer, you realize that Ms. Walsh has created a lifestyle store of truly natural and organic products from sustainably crafted sofas and chairs, live edge table designs, India hand-blocked exclusive bedding to stuffed animals from Peru.
I met Kathy at the New York Gift Show and was immediately drawn to her kind energy. She is a soulful person and we are very happy to be in her beautiful store.
